Why I Chose to Become a Lawyer
Ever since childhood, I have been fascinated by the power of words and the idea of justice.
While other kids dreamed of becoming astronauts or rock-stars, I pictured myself standing before a judge, defending someone who could not defend themselves.
My passion grew stronger when I watched courtroom dramas and read about landmark cases that changed society.
The profession of a lawyer combines logic, empathy and courage—qualities I strive to develop every day.
Daily Life of a Lawyer
A lawyer’s schedule is never boring:
- Early morning: reviewing case files and legal precedents.
- Mid-morning: client consultations—listening carefully and asking the right questions.
- Afternoon: court appearances, negotiations or drafting contracts.
- Evening: research and preparation for the next day’s challenges.
Key Skills Every Lawyer Needs
- Analytical thinking—spotting tiny details others miss.
- Communication—explaining complex issues in simple words;
- Negotiation—finding common ground between conflicting parties.
- Integrity—because justice depends on honesty.
Challenges & Rewards
Challenges: long hours, emotional stress, and the responsibility of someone’s future in your hands.
Rewards: the moment you win a case for a client who had almost lost hope, or when you help change an unjust law.
Career Path & Education
The journey usually looks like this:
- Obtain a bachelor’s degree (Pre-law, Political Science or related).
- Pass the LSAT (Law School Admission Test).
- Complete three years at an accredited law school.
- Pass the Bar Exam in the state where you plan to practice.
